Friends of the Library

Who are the Friends of Essex Public Library?

The Friends of the Library support the library’s mission through vounteerism, fundraising, and advocacy. The Friends provide financial support beyond state and local tax dollars to help with unfunded initiatives, including summer reading programs for children, special events for all ages, furniture and equipment purchases, and much more. The Friends of the Library Board meets monthly and collects input from the general membership. If you wish to contact the Friends Board, please e-mail Friends@EPLVA.org.

Each fall, the Friends sponsor and plan “Evening with a Writer”, a popular annual event which brings nationally recognized authors to Essex County.  The featured author in 2018 was Robert Goolrick, who discussed his latest novel, The Dying of the Light. Planning for the 2019 Evening with a Writer is currently underway. Stay tuned for more information! Please contact Hannah at Friends@EPLVA.org if you are interested in helping with Evening with a Writer.

The Friends of the Library send out periodic e-mail newsletters to update members on special projects and events. Read past newsletters and sign up for the mailing list below.
