Fish Print Workshop

Posted by brohne on

April 19, 2018 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

“Gyotaku”  or fish rubbing was developed by Japanese fishermen in the 1800’s to record their catch.  Using paper and ink applied directly to the fish, the fishermen would make an imprint to prove the size and species of their prize catch.  School-aged youth are invited to the library to make their own fish print! Completed artwork by Essex County residents will meet the entry requirements for the Art Contest for the Tappahannock Rotary’s Croaker Tournament.  They will also be displayed at the library during the weeks before the May 19th tournament.
